Weekend Family Fun

Josh's sister gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Zachary Richard Fiet, last month and now that we live close enough, we were able to drive up this weekend to Kentucky for the baby blessing.

We arrived Friday and we were all shocked how well Charlotte did on such little sleep. She loved all the toys and being with her cousins, but only wanted to be with me the entire time; hence the lack of pictures of everyone else.  The weather was so nice the whole weekend.  The drive wasn't near as bad or felt as long as I was anticipated.  Overall, it was a great weekend!

Setting up Rick's Father's Day present...Corn Hole

Charlotte was in heaven with all the new toys, side walk chalk, swings...everything!

Drawing with Gram!
Bath time...love Charlotte's eyes haha!
Playing Corn Hole
My new nephew, Zachary!
My baby has been extra clingy lately.
Saturday was the actual blessing day. We did the blessing at Rachel's in-laws home. I always love blessings and hearing what the fathers feel inspired to say to their newborn child. Since I've gone through the experience with Josh and Charlotte, they are so much more meaningful to me. Kevin did a great job and it's always so fun to celebrate a new baby in the family.

Kisses for Tess

Uncle Dan!
Proud parents!

Proud siblings!

Gram and Gramps with all the grandkids...Charlotte is thrilled!

After the blessing, Kevin's parents hosted an entire pizza party for all of us! They have a pizza oven in the backyard and had every topping you could think of. We all made our own personal pizzas and enjoyed their beautiful backyard. It was so much fun! Thanks to the Fiets and all the work you put into hosting us!

Of course every night we are together (no matter the occasion), we stay up late and talk, and that was still the case this weekend.

Sunday morning we all lounged around, played more "Corn Hole," celebrated Fathers Day, Rach painted Charlotte's nails and we got ready to leave that afternoon.

Matching nails!!
She has a rough life...can't you tell?
Scary Tess!

After Charlotte woke up from her nap, Josh and I were upstairs and he asked if he could open his Father's Day gift.  It wasn't anything crazy (a shirt), since we weren't going to be home and he didn't want anything anyway.  And then my phone was too full to take any more pictures :(

I've noticed most of my pictures are of Charlotte and Tess...I hope they become the best of friends as they grow up!!

Thank you Kevin and Rachel for opening your home to all of us. It was a lot of fun and hopefully there are more weekends like this now that we are within driving distance!!

Happy Father's Day

I love when Father's Day comes around. I've always had such a great relationship with my dad, and I always looked forward to my daughters relationship with her dad. Little did I know I would have one child and it would be a girl. I love the relationship Charlotte and Josh share. The best part of the day is when Josh pulls up to the driveway, I open the door for Charlotte and she RUNS out yelling, "DADDY!"  Then there are the moments the two of the gang up on me...bedtime! Every moment the two of them share is so special. I love that Josh has a soft heart, that he shows his family his emotions, and he is willing to do anything for his little baby girl. He will have many years ahead of him full of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, coaching her sport teams, and shopping for school dance dresses. Thank you Josh, for being the best father you can be to Charlotte. We both love you and your dedication to our family!

I'm so glad I got to be with my dad recently. We always make great memories when we are together. And who can forget the longest daddy/daughter date we shared for two weeks? Not us! Thank you for always being there to love and support us and teaching us constantly! I love you!

Happy Father's Day to the other fathers, my dad, my grandfathers and my father-in-law. Your examples to Josh and I are wonderful and we hope you have a wonderful day!!

A big thank you to Treat. for the Father's Day cards this year. It was so fun add pictures and my own message in each card!

Uptown Girls

As you have probably caught on by now, DOWNTOWN Charlotte is actually called UPTOWN.  There are a couple theories, my favorite being they wanted to sound more swanky to attract people to come.  Love that.  Well, we do go!  Josh's current client is in Uptown, so on Wednesday, we went with my parents and met up with him for lunch.  We felt bad he was having to miss out on all the things we were doing, so that was his one event he got to be apart of.  We didn't go anywhere exciting, Jason's Deli, but it was close and everyone can find something they like.

Afterward, we also went to a couple museums and showed my parents ImaginOn, the coolest children's library!

ImaginOn

Overall, it was a fun-filled day. The very next day, Charlotte and I went back to ImaginOn for play group. We met up with our friends for storytime and the Fairy Tale exhibit. And of course, met up with Josh for lunch at Moe's!

Out and About in Two States

Tuesday, we started our day off in South Carolina with breakfast at Cracker Barrel.  If you know me at all, you know I love eating out for breakfast.  My parents had never had their breakfast, so it was a nice treat for all of us.  Then we played around in the store after...Charlotte's bug eye's!

My parents love looking at real estate, so I went and showed them the neighborhood Josh and I want to live in...eventually (still in SC).  We looked at a couple model homes and then took Charlotte home for a nap, back in NC.  After her nap, we went to Lake Wylie/McDowell Nature Center.  I have never been to the nature center, so it was a first for all of us.

Again, it was another hot day and thank goodness for our $10 plastic pool!
