Finally

As many of you know, Josh was offered a full-time position to work for KPMG in the Irvine, CA office.  We knew he would start anytime between August and October.  At first it wasn't a big deal knowing when we were going to start, but soon as we found out the baby was coming in September, we needed to know.  Today we got the confirmation that Josh will be starting on August 15!  I am so excited!  I will be having the baby in CA where all my family is and Josh's insurance will have already kicked in too!  I need to find a great high-risk OB and I would love to deliver in Mission Hospital...where I was born :)  I have a lot of phone calls to make and appointments to set up.  Now I can finally start planning things, looking for apartments and just have a peace of mind. Most likely we will move at the beginning of August, stay with my parents and hopefully be in our own place by the beginning of September.  Can't wait to have visitors!

Next big announcement: Sex of our baby

The Ellen Show

Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I have been obsessed with the idea of getting on the Ellen Show for her Mother's Day giveaways.  I have researched this show by virtually watching every clip there is on the internet, Googling people who have gone on the show, reading discussion boards, and checking her show website multiple times a day making sure I don't miss the application.  Well last week the application went up and I entered.  I also had Josh enter (and maybe a few others).  But Josh and I got no confirmation so we resubmitted them.  Josh said he entered like 5 times.  Great...they are going to see my name and just delete the email haha.  Well rumor has it that if you don't get a callback, there is a standby line you can wait in and try to get in that way.  About 30 minutes ago, I booked my flight.  I am determined to get in one way or another.  The show happens to be on my birthday and I don't want to be away from Josh on the best day of the year; but a future mom has got to do what she's got to do.  I am leaving Wednesday night and coming back Friday morning (May 9-11).  I won't even have time to go see my family, it will be a very quick trip.  Please cross your fingers I get a callback or somehow miraculously get in!!!

Here is a clip from last year's show:

Graduation Announcements

I finally ordered graduation announcements!  Since Josh and I are graduating the same semester, we thought we could just send ONE joint announcement.  This way people aren't too overwhelmed with TWO typical cards and pictures and tissue paper (you get the point) falling out of a crowded envelope, but have one flat card with the picture AND info.  It's definitely a new concept, but it works. Then I ran into the problem of having our picture look too "engagement"-like.  Karilyn took our pictures and did a great job of them not turning out too mushy ;)  Hopefully those who receive them like them.  Here is a sneak peak (and a picture we didn't use due to Josh's awkward hand position).

Anything But Awful

Last night on our way home, we stopped by "Awful Waffle," since we've never been there. Let's just say...I found my new favorite treat!! We took them home and enjoyed them with a big glass of milk. Yum!!

Let's-Mix-A-Lot

For Christmas, Tahnee and Tyler received a Vitamix blender and have sworn by it ever since. They say they use it at least once a day. Then we went over to Tyler's moms house for dinner a few weeks ago and THEY had just bought one too. Basically they all convinced us that we need one. I'm not a hard sale as it is but the thing that really sold me is...easy way to get your daily servings of fruit and veggies AND it makes baby food. Ok...SOLD! Today on my way home from the HEAU conference, I stopped by Costco and picked one up. We knew they would be there doing a road show and we just couldn't wait any longer. I cannot wait to start making smoothies, soups and so much more like crazy!!! Our freezer is stocked with fruit and veggies just waiting to be blended up.

Plans? What Plans?

Josh and I had all these great plans of graduating, going on several trips this year, moving to California and both working full-time (dual income baby).  Neither of us were super baby hungry and did not see the need to start popping out kids soon.  I really wanted to get off birth control to try and loose some weight.  I got an app on my phone that would help me to follow an ovulation calendar.  Low and behold, that didn't work and within a few weeks of stopping the birth control I noticed I skipped my period (which never happens).  I was sitting in class on a Tuesday morning (in January) and thought, man it's been a while since my period.  I glanced at my calendar and sure enough, I had missed it.  I got this feeling and knew instantly I was pregnant. So I ran to WalMart before going to work, bought a pregnancy test and ran to the bathroom.  I felt a little trashy doing it at WalMart, but I had to know!!  It had to take three minutes, so I put the cap back on and placed it back in the wrapper.  I figured once I got across the street to work, it would be time.  Soon as I get out of the parking lot I couldn't wait any longer, I pulled out the test and sure enough, it said positive.  I couldn't believe it.  I just got a huge smile on my face and kept saying, "OH MY GOSH!"  It was the craziest feeling.  I called the OB to "confirm" and they told me if you took a urine sample, it's pretty accurate.  I went into work and hadn't seen my boss for over a week (she was out of town).  Soon as I walk in she says, "How are you?"  I said, "I'm pregnant" and handed her the test.  She was shocked.  Of course the rest of the day at work, I couldn't stop looking at baby stuff online.  I skipped my evening class and tried to figure out how I was going to tell Josh.  He had been G-chatting with me all day while we were both at work and it took everything in me not to say anything.  I wanted it to be a complete surprise.  How did I end up telling him?  I went to the party store and got a ton of balloons (some with helium and some without) and put them in the master bedroom.  I had two balloons tied to the front door, green and yellow (I didn't want to be too obvious).  Then I had a confetti trail from the front door to the bedroom.  I was waiting in the room holding my phone to record his reaction, the positive pregnancy test and the sign that read in Indonesian, "I'm pregnant! You're going to be a dad!"

He finally got home and took FOREVER to come to the bedroom.  Mind you, I hadn't cried all day and of course when I see Josh, the flood gates came down.  He walked in and immediately covered his mouth in disbelief.  He kept saying "Shut Up," over and over.  He thought I was kidding...yeah because it's April Fools day or something.  Once I handed him the result, he hugged me and we both cried.  What a shock?!  I think Josh didn't believe it until we went for our first appointment.  The ultrasound was so clear and the baby came right on the screen...and only one baby.  We are due September 20 but the OBGYN expects me to deliver early.

Health concerns:

For me to be pregnant, it is not like normal women who have nothing to worry about.  For those of you who have lived under a rock the last 5+ years, I have heart problems.  SURPRISE!  It is a lot more serious for me to get pregnant and a lot more risky.  Week 20-25 will be the most crucial.  This five weeks will determine if my heart will be able to go through with the pregnancy or not...yes that means the baby will have to be aborted if things are not going well.  It is very emotional to think about, especially with how much more excited I get each day.  BUT, the doctors (my OBGYN and Cardiologist) bot expect this pregnancy to be very uneventful...which is what we want!!  I normally don't ask people to help me, BUT Josh and I would appreciate any prayers for the health of this baby.

Next Appointment:

March 14- will be one day shy of 13 weeks
